Once you're in Spain, contact the schools you are interested in and usually they'll be happy to have you come and visit. 


Note: the map/list doesn't include state schools (colegio públicos) or semi-private schools (concertados).

Schools with a blue tag are primarily taught in English, while those with a red tag are bilingual.

Schools in Malaga City Taught In English

As there's a much higher concentration of expat families on the coast west of Malaga towards Marbella, you'll find most international schools in this area rather than in the city. 


In the city itself, there is only one school for kids of all ages (the British School) which teaches primarily in English, plus a college for 16 – 18 year olds to do A-Levels. 


The British School of Malaga

  • The only school within the city of Malaga for children aged 3 - 18
  • The school had some problems a few years ago which resulted in a change of management and rebranding (it was formerly known as St. George)
  • Costs around €10,000 per year including extras such as school lunch and transport
  • It is located in Cerrado de Calderón in the east of Málaga city, with easy access by car from the A7 motorway
  • There are school transport services around the city and surroundings

Phoenix College, Malaga

  • For 16 - 18 year olds only, offers A-levels
  • Located in the centre of Malaga
  • Fees are €9,100 per year excluding exam fees

Schools close to Malaga City Taught In English

The below schools are within 30-minutes driving distance to Málaga city and provide transport from and to Malaga - check with the school to find out where the pick-up points will be.

Novaschool Sunland

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • Located in Cártama but with a school bus service to Malaga (20km away)
  • Slightly cheaper than the two schools in Malaga, ranging up to €6,012 including lunch but excluding school bus

Sunny View School

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • Located in Torremolinos but with a bus service to Malaga (20km away)
  • The school doesn't make their fees public 

Colegio Internacional Torrequebrada

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • Follows a British curriculum for the primary school years, with 80% of classes being taught in English, but older children follow a bilingual curriculum 
  • Located in Benalmádena but with a bus service to the west side of Malaga city (30km away)
  • The school doesn't make their fees public 

BeWorldwise Montessori School

  • For 3 – 12 year olds
  • Based on the Montessori method of education, with English being the main language of the school
  • Located in Alhaurín el Grande
  • Fees are €690 per month for children aged 6 – 12, not including lunch, materials or transportation

Private Bilingual Schools (English/Spanish) close to Malaga City

MIT School Malaga

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • Strong in languages: offers Chinese (from 3 years), German (from 1 Primary), French (optional from 1 ESO) and Russian (extracurricular)
  • Older pupils can study the International Baccalaureate/Dual Diploma, allowing them to gain a US high school diploma and the Spanish Bachillerato simultaneously
  • Located inside the Technological Park of Andalusia, with school transport services to Malaga city
  • The school doesn't make their fees public 

Novaschool Añoreta

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • The children study in both English and Spanish, with at least 11 hours a week being in English
  • The school follows a Spanish curriculum, with older children studying the Spanish Bachillerato
  • Located in Añoreta, near to Rincón de la Victoria, with transport to Malaga city
  • Fees vary by age of child, with monthly fees for a 10-year old being €421 (excluding lunch and school bus)

El Pinar College

  • For 3 – 18 year olds
  • Nursery and primary school aged children follow a bilingual curriculum, while older children study the Spanish Bachillerato
  • Located in Alhaurín de la Torre with transport to Malaga city
  • Fees range from €350 – €432 per month plus an annual fee, school bus and lunch
